Comprehensive Moving Checklist Maintained by Gainesville Moving Companies

When you are busy preparing for your move there are certain things that your delicate brain might skip. Therefore, a handy check list can take away your worries of memorizing them. I have compartmentalized the checklist into three distinct categories.

1)      Planning your move

2)      Final moving day

3)      Delivery Check

1)      Planning your move –

Usually a moving company offers a booklet called “Your Rights And Responsibilities When You Move” and a brochure titled “Ready To Move?”. If you don’t receive it then ask for it by yourself.

Check if anyone whom you know has some knowledge about the moving company that you opted for.

Better Business Bureau (BBB) is of course an area for verification.

Inquire about the movers liabilities.

Is the moving company associated with some “dispute settlement program”?

Collect a minimum of three moving quotes and compare it along with the services provided by them.

While reserving service from an interstate mover find out if they are registered under FMCSA and also is licensed under US DOT (Department Of Transportation).

Ask the moving company about the plan of the move. How will they pick up your items, at what time and when will they deliver it? It is better if you can get them in writing.

Take down the contact numbers. At least a single number that will connect you to the moving company before the move, during the move and after the move.

Don’t forget to insure your belongings before handing them over to your movers custody.

2)      Final Moving Day -

If you are a professional who has to go out of the house for job purpose, then you will have to take a leave for the particular day. Your presence will help the moving crew better perform the task. You can guide them and instruct them accordingly until they are over with it.

The moving crew might have some questions regarding the inventory, so it is very important for you to be with them to clear their doubts.

Before you sign a document , read it carefully to understand what you are agreeing to because you signature means that you have read and agreed to the matter.

The “bill of lading” should be with you until you complete your dealings with your moving company. Probably till delivery or after sorting out the claims.

Before the moving company truck drives away with your belongings, recheck the house to find out if there is anything that you are leaving behind.

Give a clear mapping or direction of the new destination.

Mention clearly about your whereabout to your driver and the moving company.

3)      Delivery Check -

You should be present at the time of delivery to settle with the legal matters and answer other queries.

Before the driver unloads the belongings, you are supposed to pay him according to the agreement terms. Give him what is mentioned because it is not good time for bargaining.

Instruct the crew while unloading and unwrapping your possessions.

Check your belongings properly before signing any document.

These simple points while moving will help the gainesville movers to make your move less hectic and well managed.
